Skate and glide while cross-country skiing in the Dolomites

Your cross-country skis move in rhythm – left, right – arms in counterpoint. Your breath sets the tempo. Glide along the track into Val Fiscalina/Fischleintal, or aim for the world-famous Lake Braies/Pragser Wildsee. Possibilities open in every direction. Cross-country skiing is gentle yet powerfully effective exercise, engaging your whole body as you pass through a picturesque landscape of snow-blanketed meadows, dense forests, and small wooden huts.
The trailhead starts right by the Family Resort Rainer – your hotel for cross-country skiing in the Dolomites. With more than 200km of groomed trails, the Sexten region is Italy’s number one cross-country destination. Each year, it hosts cross-country and biathlon World Cup races, marathons, and major winter sports events.

Speed down into the valley

With crisp winter air in your lungs and the Sexten Dolomites as your backdrop, tobogganing is the kind of thrill you won’t forget. Take it easy with the family or chase speed on the descent – the perfectly groomed Croda Rossa/Rotwand run delivers fun for all ages. The track stretches 5km, dropping 600 vertical metres from the Croda Rossa/Rotwand mountain station all the way down to the valley. Want to turn it into an evening adventure in good company? Gather in a rustic hut, then glide down together under the moonlight.
