Summer holiday in the Dolomites Sesto, the excursions of your dreams

When our guests return in the late afternoon after a long walk or excursion and make their way to the wellness oasis, their expressions clearly suggest that we have not promised too much. In fact anyone who spends a walking holiday in the Dolomites and especially in Sesto, cannot wait to return. Sesto first became a Mecca for famous mountaineers about a century ago and continues to be one. Sesto is synonymous with the mountains, and the Dolomites have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2008! Sesto offers the most extensive network of trails in South Tyrol, with memorable tours taking in the flora and fauna of the Sesto Natural Park. Large tracts of the Val di Sesto are special protection areas covered by “Natura 2000” that stretch as far as the eye can see. You will be sure to love Val Fiscalina or the legendary Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Three Peaks of Lavaredo).

The El Dorado for lovers of active holidays

We are keen sports enthusiasts and live for the mountains, so we know exactly what people who love the mountains and active holidays need and want, and we are always happy to offer advice. Joe Rainer, a qualified mountain guide and member of the rescue team, and Christian Schwienbacher, a qualified hiking and Nordic-walking guide, regularly offer the following tours in their company: hikes at high altitude, climbs up via ferratas, leisurely walks, and anything else you may desire.

Since 2014, we have also collaborated in the Stoneman event. Our guests, therefore, can take part in exclusive mountain biking tours together with the champion of this sport, Roland Stauder.

We can organise tandem flights over the Dolomites with the local flying school, rafting descents, stays at shelters, horse-riding courses, climbing courses at the highest indoor climbing centre in Italy, and much more besides.
And best of all: you can choose whether to take part in an active schedule with your children, or just in two. We are happy to look after your children in the meantime!

The mountain town at the heart of the Dolomites also has much more to offer active holiday-makers: anyone who enjoys mountain biking, trekking, climbing, Nordic-walking or even paragliding will not be disappointed. The Rainer family and the team of the Rainer Family Resort are always there to tend to your needs and desires, and can offer advice and organise your rafting adventure, paragliding session or climbing course at the highest indoor climbing centre in Italy.

The activities in brief:

  • This is a paradise for hiking and climbing that meets every expectation
  • Nordic-walking, special mountain biking trails, bob-sleigh tracks
  • 18-hole golf course at Lienz/East Tyrol (40 km) and Riscone (40 km)
  • “Summer facilities at Sesto” with beach-volley court (with real sand), open-air swimming pool, mini golf course, climbing tower (16.5 m); farm with stables in town
  • Fitness trail in the woods near the Rainer Family Resort

We like to say that “the Lord was from South Tyrol”, because of how often the sun shines so bright here! Should the weather not be favourable, however, we at the hotel can offer an interesting alternative schedule. We can guide you to the local museums (for example, the Rudolf Stolz Museum, the Museum of the Great War in the Dolomites, the Museum of Traditions and Customs) or to the fascinating castles and forts (which children love) in the vicinity (Lienz, Monguelfo, Campo Tures).
