Everyone finds something special at the Hotel Rainer, where elegance combines with a vibrant atmosphere, and the excellent cuisine of our restaurant is matched by the stunning views of the Sesto Dolomites from our comfortable suites.
However, for a more "practical" solution, you can also choose a stay in one of our residences. These attractive buildings with contemporary design offer self-contained apartments with an emphasis on space and comfort. And you also have the freedom to decide at any time whether to take advantage of breakfast or half-board at the hotel, or to be totally independent. All guests at the Family Resort Rainer can take part in our interesting programme of leisure activities for adults and children throughout the day, and also make use of our delightful "Dolomit-Panorama-Spa" wellness oasis.
Agnes originates from East Tyrol, but during the 1960s she needed a visa to go to Alto Adige (South Tyrol), in nearby Italy. She got married in 1964, and she and her husband opened the Pension Rainer, securing the basis for their family and professional life. She'd always dreamed of becoming a doctor and helping others. Life took her on a different path, but she still kept faith with her ideals, lavishing care and attention on her hotel guests. She remains the guiding spirit of Family Resort Rainer, and the success of our business is due to her commitment, diligence, kindness and dedication to others.
Family Resort Rainer
Willi was born into a farming family in Sesto, and became first a master tailor and then a teacher. He taught for many years at a vocational school in Brunico, while also working as a receptionist in his brother's hotel and supporting the Rainer guesthouse business. His dream of becoming a bookseller in Stuttgart never happened, and the years spent trying to invent and produce toys also proved unsuccessful. However, in his spare time, he took distance learning courses in psychology. These studies proved very useful in his long political career, during which he served as president of the local tourist office, mayor of Sesto, and was involved in various public bodies throughout South Tyrol. Willi is committed to serving his guests at the Hotel Rainer, and is always happy to help wherever he is needed. He still continues to monitor the progress of Family Resort Rainer very carefully.
Joe is the oldest member of the Rainer clan, and owner of Hotel Rainer. He is also a dedicated mountain guide, a trusted member of the mountain and air rescue service with a licence to fly light aircraft, a longtime ski instructor and alpaca breeder. In a nutshell: Joe is not the sort to dodge work or social contact. Those who rely on his expertise are certainly in excellent hands.

The daughter of the managers of the nearby Hotel Passo Monte Croce, Verena was brought up in the hospitality trade. As Joe's wife, she co-manages the Hotel Rainer. She's a member of the well-known Happacher mountaineering family, and loves skiing, climbing and ski mountaineering. She also manages to keep complete control over the hotel, her three children... and her husband.
The son-in-law in the Rainer family, he moved from the Merano area to the Sesto Dolomites 25 years ago, describing it as "in the most beautiful place in the world". Christian is an expert gastronome and sommelier, cross-country and telemark ski instructor, a keen hunter and collector of old-timers, as well as a certified hiking guide in South Tyrol. However, his main role is as owner and manager of the Residence Königswarte- Strata.

The Rainers' only daughter, she studied hotel management in Switzerland, and has shown strong public commitment to her homeland of Sesto and the hotel and restaurant sector. She enjoys alpine and cross-country skiing and trekking in the mountains, but her main love is for the arts, and in particular painting and literature. She's dedicated to her work at the Residence Königswarte-Strata and, of course, to her three children.
Christoph is the youngest of the four Rainer children, and gifted with a sharp intelligence, he has always been the busiest and the most astute. His main job as international finance manager involves travelling around Europe, but does not stop him finding time to go skiing or mountain biking in the Sesto Dolomites, while also constantly devising new plans and strategies. He acknowledges that his best ideas come to him in the mountains. In Residence Alma Paramount, he has lifted the special character of "Rainer-style accommodation" to the highest level.

A brilliant and globally successful architect, Ulla is a member of the "Plasma Studio" association, which focuses particularly on creativity. A deep love of the mountains and respect for nature have always been part of her life, and a major influence on all her professional work. She spends every free moment exploring the Dolomites by mountain bike or e-bike, or going hiking or ski mountaineering along with her husband Christoph and their three little girls. And she always finds time for a two-day trek between mountain huts at least once a year!
The most cheerful of the Rainer brothers, he was long-term manager of the Sesto sports facilities and rock gym. In his new role in marketing, he now travels throughout South Tyrol. His training as a South Tyrol cycle guide has made him a well-known expert in everything related to bikes. He knows every trail in the area, and would happily take you along any of them. In winter, he's always the first out on the beautifully tended slopes in the Sesto ski area.

She worked for many years as a very dedicated teacher. With the birth of her children and construction of the Betulin apartments, she became increasingly involved in work at the Residence Villa Drei Birken. She transformed her ideas into reality in a highly creative way, combining the old and the new wisely and tastefully. She is totally committed to making her guests feel happy and comfortable. Barbara loves the mountains and feels very fortunate to live in a place where others can "only" have a holiday.
Located in one of the most enchanting parts of the Dolomites, Family Resort Rainer offers excellent and thoughtful service. Right out of the front door, there are multiple choices of walking and trekking paths for all tastes, providing fairytale-like views of the mountains and meadows. The amenities are perfect for families. The kids (4 and 7 years old) loved the well equipped playroom and the rooftop spa, open every afternoon, was so relaxing with amazing mountain views. The building is exceptionally clean and well maintained, the location and views from the room stunning. The owners were so kind, giving us lots of tips for activities and going out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable.
The main site of Family Resort Rainer remains the centre of activity. This is where you'll find the refreshment facilities and dining rooms, the reception area, the wellness area, the mini-club, the play spaces and the "Ski in/Ski out" facility for ski storage, with access to the ski slopes right by the door. We offer a special gourmet half board solution at the hotel, which also includes an afternoon snack.
