Hello, I am Raini, the friendly ghost! My home is “Raini’s castle”, located just behind the hotel and it is a pleasure for me to guide you through this pages!
Sesto is an idyllic mountain village set in the vast valley of Sesto, within a natural reserve that takes the same name, among the sweet descents of the Carnic mountain ridge and the towering rocky walls of Sesto’s Dolomites. Two kilometres away from the Moso area, the Val Fiscalina, described by climber and film director Luis Trenker as the most beautiful valley in the world, find its way into the Dolomites at the foot of the Cima Dodici (Zwölferkofel) and Cime di Lavaredo (Drei Zinnen) mountain tops. Since the last century, our area is a protected natural reserve and some of its parts are “Nature 2000” classified, while the Cime di Lavaredo mountaintops are about to be classified as part of the “UNESCO Cultural Landscape”. Experienced alpine guides have been escorting foreign guests with a passion for alpinism to the most difficult peaks of this breathtakingly beautiful area ever since the end of the XIX century, thus giving prestige and touristy interest to this mountain-farming village. On the turn towards the XX century, and especially after WWII, Sesto has become a major attraction for visitors from all over the world, both in winter and in summer. Such celebrity is well deserved if you consider the astonishing natural beauty of the area, a paradise for excursions, skiing and alpinism, its unique flora and fauna … not to mention the attraction and traditional and cultural events that will make your stay a truly varied and exciting experience.
Nature’s spectacular show We should consider ourselves particularly lucky for living in a place that many define as the most beautiful part of the Dolomites. Here, where the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Lavaredo’s three mountaintops) stand as a majestic and legendary natural monument and where the incredible “natural sundial” of Sesto marks the hours on the tenth, eleventh and twelfth mountaintops …here where one encounters an almost uncontaminated natural landscape right at their doorstep. We are, in a few words, lucky enough to live where others love to spend their holidays.
